Manchester United are plotting a move for Wolfsburg midfielder Julian Draxler as part of Jose Mourinho's midfield overhaul ahead of the next season. The midfielder joined the Bundesliga club last season from Fc Schalke and has refused to commit his future after his current club had a poor season and failed to qualify for the Champions League.

According to German publication Bild, Mourinho has made Draxler a target, but will likely have to pay a premium to land the German star owing to his long-term contract with Wolfsburg. The 22-year-old is a versatile player, who can play either as an attacking midfielder or as a left winger, a position he frequented during his time with Schalke.

Mourinho has been linked with a number of midfielders in recent weeks with Paul Pogba being the most frequently mentioned name. This sudden overhaul could put a number of United players' futures in doubt mainly, Marouane Fellaini, Memphis Depay and Juan Mata. The former two had a disappointing 2015/16 campaign, while the latter is not a favourite of Mourinho, after the Portuguese sold him to the Red Devils during his spell as the manager of Chelsea.

The Germany international is contracted to the Bundesliga club until the summer of 2020, but refused to commit his future, while hinting that any decision regarding his future will be taken following his participation with the Die Mannschaft at the ongoing European Championship finals in France. The Bild understands that the midfielder's head can be turned if an offer arrives from one of the top clubs in Europe.

"My focus was on the [injury] comeback and now it's on the Euros. Everything else is not an issue," Draxler said following Wolfsburg final game of the 2015/16 season, as quoted by ESPN FC.
