Manchester United are considering a move in signing Ajax star Daley Blind in this summer transfer window.

The Mirror reports the Red Devils are set to lodge a £15m bid in the next 48 hours as they look to bring the Dutch international to Old Trafford. The 24-year-old has already worked under new United manager Louis van Gaal with his national side during the World Cup in Brazil, where they finished third in the tournament.

United have long been interested in signing Thomas Vermaelen this summer. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger even confirmed the Premier League giants' interest in the centre-back. However, the Belgium international snubbed a chance to join Van Gaal's side and completed his move to Barcelona.

With United losing out on Vermaelen, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has turned his attention in signing his compatriot. Blind, who can play as a full-back and as a defensive midfielder could fit well into Van Gaal's style of play at Old Trafford.

Barcelona are also interested in signing Blind. However, the Catalan club are believed to have ended their interest after signing Vermaelen from Arsenal. In addition to this, Ajax are aware that it would be a tough task to keep hold of their player beyond the ongoing transfer window.

The Dutch champions are already lining up a replacement for Blind as they are edging towards sealing a deal for PAOK Athens' Hedwiges Maduro.

Meanwhile, Blind has admitted that he could consider a move to United if Van Gaal makes him an offer to join him at Old Trafford.

"What will I do when Louis van Gaal tells me he wants me to come to Manchester United? I will consider it," the Mirror quoted Blind as saying.

"The World Cup has been a massive boost for my experience and I have made no secret that I will listen when a nice offer comes my way."
