Barcelona Football Club have played the beautiful game for 112 years- but they haven't had a player quite like this before.

This week, Lionel Messi lobbed his way into the history books.

Whilst scoring his eighth hat trick this season, he also became Barcelona's top goal scorer of all time.

He has now scored 234 goals for the club- remarkable, given that he is just 24 years old.

Teammate Thiago believes that Messi deserves his spot among the greats.

BARCA STRIKER THIAGO ALCANTARA SAYING:

"Some people say 'I saw Pele play', 'I saw Maradona play'. I can say I've seen Leo Messi play. He is a player of a different kind, he is a player who has gone down in history, is making history and will make history in football. There are few adjectives left to describe him. Unique, as always"

The only medal missing from his cabinet is the World Cup- but if he stays clear of injury, he could potentially play in another three World Cups before his career ends.

Barca Manager Pep Guadiola was right: "Don't write about him, don't try to describe him. Watch him."
