Miss Venezuela, Ivian Sarcos, was crowned the 61st Miss World in a glittering ceremony at the Earls Court Two in London, Sunday night.

Touted as the most favorite contender for the crown, 21-year-old Miss Venezuela, wearing a pink dress with diamante studs, threw her hands in the air and broke into tears when she was announced winner. The Venezuelan beauty was crowned by reigning Miss World Alexandria Mills of the United States.

Miss Philippines, Gwendoline Ruais, was named runner-up, while Miss Puerto Rico, Amanda Perez, came third in the contest.

The top seven finalists comprised Korea, Venezuela, England, Philippines, Puerto Rico, South Africa and Scotland. Among the15 semi-finalists were Indonesia, Korea, Italy, Sweden, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Venezuela, Philippines, US VI, Spain, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Scotland and England.

Among the other title winners, Dominican Republic Marianly Tejada Burgos was awarded Miss World 2011 Sports Champ. Miss England, Alize Mounter, was Miss World 2011 Beach Beauty and Miss Kazakhstan, Zhanna Zhumaliyeva, was Miss World 2011 Top Model. The title of Miss World 2011 Talent was jointly shared by Miss Chile, Gabriela Pulgar Luco, Miss Ghana, Stephanie Karikari, and Miss Indonesia, Astrid Yunadi.

The event came back home as the first Miss World pageant was held in London. It was announced that Ordos in Inner Mongolia, China, will host the Miss World competition in 2012.
