Ed Sheeran's Agency Has Not Been Called Wasserman Since March, and Its Founder Walked Out in February
Private equity will fund the purchase of Casey Wasserman's last stake, though the deal is yet to complete

Ed Sheeran's stadium tours go through an agency that dropped its own name in March 2026. For 24 years, the firm sold tickets and signed athletes as Wasserman. Its new name is THE·TEAM, and Casey Wasserman, the founder whose surname it bore, gave up daily control a month before the change.
Wasserman put the firm up for sale on 13 February 2026, two weeks after his emails to Ghislaine Maxwell turned up in the Epstein files. No one has accused him of wrongdoing. Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and Raye stay on the roster, and Providence Equity Partners has agreed to buy Wasserman out.
How the Clients Reacted
Officials at the US Department of Justice released the newest batch of Epstein files on 30 January 2026. Those files held flirtatious emails that Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell swapped in 2003, 18 years before a jury found her guilty of sex trafficking. A post by Best Coast singer Bethany Cosentino helped trigger a wave of departures. Chappell Roan, Laufey, Orville Peck, and Weyes Blood all left within days, and the agency then removed its artist roster from its website.
In a memo to staff, Wasserman apologised for what he called his past personal mistakes and added that he had become a distraction. He put his dealings with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at one aid trip to Africa in 2002 and a handful of emails he regrets. LA28, the organising committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, kept Wasserman as chairperson. Michael Watts, president of the business since 2014, took over day-to-day control at once.
From Rebrand to Sale
Visitors to the old website found a redirect on Monday 9 March 2026. A short note said the company would now trade as THE·TEAM, with a dot between the two words, at the.team. Bosses said the same belief in sports, music, and entertainment still shaped the business. THE·TEAM kept buying through the turmoil and added the golf agency Provisions Golf in May. THE·TEAM continued operating with about 4,000 employees.
Moelis & Company ran the auction, and the first bids arrived in April. United Talent Agency and former Endeavor chairman Patrick Whitesell were among the potential buyers. Providence Equity Partners won. Already the majority investor since 2022, the buyout firm agreed on 28 July 2026 to fund the purchase of the founder's remaining stake. Neither side disclosed the price. Their joint statement described a contest with multiple rounds of bids from would-be buyers.
Where the Deal Stands Now
The transaction has not yet closed. Both sides expect the deal to complete in the second half of 2026, subject to the usual conditions. Michael Watts becomes chief executive on the day it does, the same job Wasserman held. Until then, Wasserman keeps his stake in a business that no longer carries his name.
What the change means for artists stays open. The company took its artist roster off the website in February and has published no client list since. Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour runs into December, and the agency booking those stadium dates should have a new owner before the year ends.
