Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood, and Marin Ireland are set to join the cast of "The Umbrella Academy" Season 2. Netflix has revealed details about their respective roles in the series and it seems that they are going to make things even more interesting in the sequel.

Netflix, on its "See What's Next" Twitter page, describes Gatewood's character as a charismatic born leader who goes by the name of Raymond. He possesses the "smarts, gravitas, and the confidence to never have to prove it to anyone." Raymond is also already married and a good husband.

Fans of the CW's "The Originals" series may be familiar with the actor. He played a similar role of authority as Vincent Griffith, who was once possessed by the vampire Finn Mikaelson. Gatewood most recently appeared in the Amazon show "Good Omens."

Meanwhile, Ritu Arya, best known for her role in "Humans," plays Lila in "The Umbrella Academy" Season 2. She is "a chameleon who can be as brilliant or as insane as the situation requires." Lila also has a "twisted sense of humor." The AV club description suggests she can be both good and bad or a manipulative joker. Sounds like she definitely fits in with the misfit crew of "The Umbrella Academy."

Lastly, there's Ireland, ("Y: The Last Man") who plays Sissy, a Texan girl who walked down the aisle at a young age for all the wrong reasons. A "no-nonsense mom," she is interested to "rediscover what life and love has to offer."

It remains to be seen what these three new characters in "The Umbrella Academy" Season 2 have anything to do with the existing characters. Their descriptions do not suggest that they have any familial connection with any members of the superhero group. Likewise, they do not exist in the Dark Horse comic book series from which the show is based.

Then again, they must be additions to the source material. Gerard Way, who co-creates the comic, previously said that he continues to add stories to the graphic novel and sends updates to showrunner Steve Blackman as he goes.

Likewise, given how Season 1 of the series ended, it is likely that these new characters in "The Umbrella Academy" Season 2 are from another place or from a different timeline. Viewers may remember that seven of the members disappeared to an unknown period or place in order to escape the end of the world brought by Vanya's powers.
