Prince Harry, or, Captain Wales, as he is known in the British Army, spent the first couple of weeks of his month long secondment with the Australian Defence Force at the 1st Brigade in the Northern Territory.

Part of his program included flying a Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH). The prince had to take flight simulation training before flying with the 1st Aviation Regiment from Robertson Barracks near Darwin, officials said.

He also took part in regular army training, including preparing for field exercises and physical training.

The prince met the Army's injured, wounded and sick from the Soldier Recovery Centre before trying his hand at wheelchair Australian rules football with some of the soldiers from the 1st Brigade.

He will be attending the 100th anniversary of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landing at Gallipoli on 25th of April and then return to Australia to spend time in Sydney and Perth with the army.
