Princess Beatrice in Spotlight Amidst Epstein Files And Former Prince Andrew's Arrest
Prince Andrew's arrest brings renewed focus on Princess Beatrice and the York family's finances.

A dark cloud of scrutiny has arrived at Princess Beatrice's door following the arrest of her father, Prince Andrew, who was taken into custody by British police on 19 February. According to multiple reports, the arrest is linked to material emerging from the latest tranche of US Department of Justice files connected to Jeffrey Epstein, which continue to circulate online.
Since the arrest, attention has turned toward the wider York family, particularly Beatrice, whose name appears more than 200 times in the released documents.
Reports also state that Epstein paid off around £60,000 in debt tied to the York family and covered certain travel expenses, prompting renewed questions about the extent of financial assistance provided.
Andrew's Arrest Renews Focus on the York Family
Prince Andrew's recent arrest marked a significant development in the long-running fallout from his association with Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in 2019. Since January 2026, the DOJ has been releasing tranches of Epstein-related material, including emails and court documents.
According to reports, Princess Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie, are mentioned repeatedly in the files. Those references largely appear in correspondence between Epstein and their parents, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
It should be noted that none of the reviewed documents points towards any criminal wrongdoing by Beatrice.
Luxury Travel Under Fresh Review
Long before her marriage to property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and her current role as founder of tech advisory firm BY-EQ, Beatrice was known for an active social calendar and frequent overseas travel.
In 2015 alone, she was photographed skiing in Verbier, attending parties in St Tropez and Ibiza, and spending time aboard luxury yachts in the Mediterranean. Reports at the time estimated the cost of her travel that year could have reached £300,000, based on flights, accommodation and yacht charters.

At the time, Beatrice had previously worked in a junior role at Sony with a reported salary of under £20,000 before later moving into private equity. Questions over how those trips were funded resurfaced this week following Andrew's arrest and fresh examination of the Epstein files.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Mail, 'Her salary at Sony at the time was £19,500, which would not go far, while her lifestyle was obviously ridiculously excessive.' He added, 'Beatrice was able to live it up, but now we wonder at whose expense?'
Epstein's Financial Support to the Yorks
The renewed discussion about Beatrice's finances comes alongside documented evidence of Epstein providing financial assistance to Sarah Ferguson. Emails released in the DOJ files show Ferguson seeking financial help from Epstein on several occasions.
In 2011, Epstein complained in an email to associate Jean-Luc Brunel after Ferguson publicly apologised for accepting £15,000 from him, writing, 'The duchess that I have financially helped for 15 years said that she wants nothing to do with a paedophile and child sex abuser. It has caused quite a stir.'

Separate documents show Epstein helped pay off approximately $60,000 in debts Ferguson owed to a former assistant. That figure has since been cited in media discussions about the York family's finances.
Emails also indicate that Epstein covered certain flight costs for family visits, including travel linked to a 2009 trip to Florida shortly after his release from prison.
Beatrice, now 37, is married with two children and largely maintains a private working life outside the core group of working royals. While her name appears repeatedly in the newly released files, there is no indication of any involvement or awareness of the criminal activity.
As for Andrew's fate, he was reportedly released hours after his arrest; however, police continue to search Royal Lodge for further investigation.
