Romee Strijd Says She Won't Audition for Victoria's Secret Again After Being Kept 'In the Dark'
Romee Strijd said, 'I can live with a no, but I just would like to know', after weeks of uncertainty

Dutch model Romee Strijd has said she does not think she will audition for Victoria's Secret again after being rejected from its 2026 fashion show. She said conflicting updates from her agency left her uncertain about her casting status for weeks. 'I can live with a no, but I just would like to know', she said.
Romee Strijd Waited Weeks for a Casting Decision
Strijd said she travelled to New York in September for casting after training throughout the summer for a possible return to the Victoria's Secret runway. She also explained that preparing for the opportunity required time and energy while she was managing her family responsibilities.
According to Strijd, she repeatedly contacted her modelling agency, IMG Models, for updates. She said she was told the casting directors had not reached a decision and would provide an update before the weekend, roughly a week before the show.
However, she later received a different message from her agency and was told she had already been released from consideration.
Why the Victoria's Secret Rejection Upset Her
Strijd said her agency told her the casting directors did not think she would fit the show that year. She questioned the explanation because it appeared inconsistent with the earlier update that a decision was still pending.
The conflicting information was central to her frustration. Strijd said she could accept not being selected but wanted a straightforward explanation so she could move on.
'I don't feel supported by my agency. I don't feel like I have the straight story', she said.
Her account focuses on how the casting decision was communicated. It does not independently establish why she received different updates.
Strijd Says She Won't Audition Again
Strijd said the prolonged uncertainty caused her mental stress, particularly after she had invested time and energy in preparing for the show.
She wanted the agency to be honest with her rather than leave her waiting for an answer. The experience has affected her willingness to pursue another casting with the lingerie brand.
'I don't think I'm gonna cast anymore in the future, cause I don't like the way it went', Strijd said.
She added that she disliked how the overall process unfolded and how she felt she had been treated. Her comments suggest that the communication surrounding the rejection, rather than the rejection itself, influenced her decision.
Another Model Also Missed Out
Strijd was not the only model to report missing out on this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Fellow model Frida Aasen said she had also attended casting but was not selected.
One social media user expressed disappointment about Strijd's possible absence, writing: 'I was really awaiting for Romee to come back, I genuinely don't even know what is happening right now'.
The comment provides an example of an individual fan's reaction rather than establishing a wider consensus.
Strijd Wants To Preserve Positive Memories
Strijd walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show from 2014 to 2018 and became one of the brand's recognised Angels. Her possible return had attracted interest from fans hoping to see her back on the runway.
Despite her disappointment with the latest casting process, Strijd said she believed the upcoming show could be good. She also expressed a desire to preserve the positive memories of her previous experiences with the brand.
