Samsung has announced that pre-orders for its highly-anticipated Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones will begin in the UK this Friday, 20 March.

Samsung has yet however to announce how much the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge will cost when they do finally go on sale on 10 April, with many expecting the new smartphones to be priced right at the premium end of the smartphone scale.

Samsung has announced that as well as being able to order the smartphones directly from the South Korean manufacturer, customers will be able to order the two new smartphones from Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone, EE, Three and O2 on Friday.

However, those ordering directly from Samsung - at one of its retails stores or online - will get the advantage of getting their smartphone one day early on 9 April.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in Barcelona earlier this month with most initial reaction being very positive thanks to a major overhaul in the design language used and more premium materials used in the construction.

The Galaxy S6 Edge also introduced a screen which curves on both sides following on from the introduction of the Galaxy Note Edge last year which was curved on one side.

Both smartphones also feature wireless charging, the ability to make payments using Samsung Pay and Samsung's own superfast Exynos 7 chip.
