One UI 9 Update: Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Officially Receives Eleven New Features in Upgrade

Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 9 to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra, bringing a range of camera, AI, support, translation and security upgrades.

Samsung announced the stable rollout on 16 September 2026, following a beta programme launched in May. Availability and timing vary by country, region, language, device model and feature.

One UI 9 first debuted on Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. The company is now expanding the software to more Galaxy devices, although individual markets may follow different schedules.

One UI 9 Adds Camera, AI and Support Features

Among the most prominent additions is My FanCam, which can track a selected person in a recorded video and automatically reframe the footage to keep that subject centred as the scene changes.

Samsung says the feature is intended to reduce the manual editing needed for videos with moving subjects.

Now Brief is also gaining Generative and Editable Cards. These let users choose more of the information displayed in their daily summaries, including cards covering health, weather, and video content.

Samsung has also added Warranty and Care to the Settings menu. Depending on regional availability, users can check warranty coverage for linked devices, run self-diagnostics, view repair estimates, manage Samsung Care+ and book service appointments.

Now Nudge introduces context-aware suggestions designed to help users act without leaving what they are doing. Samsung says that when people are making plans over text, the feature can surface reservation details or help save a shared location without requiring them to exit the conversation.

Creative Studio can suggest image-generation ideas based on relevant upcoming events, such as a friend's birthday. Interpreter, meanwhile, gains a Thread View to review earlier translated exchanges, plus faster translation in Conversation Mode and quicker playback through compatible Galaxy Buds.

Scanning, Recording and Security Get Updates

Document Scan has been improved to handle materials that can be difficult to digitise, including curved book pages and papers with folded corners.

Samsung says the changes are designed to reduce the need for manual adjustment, while compatible devices can also use improved large-screen views and Finger Eraser tools.

Voice Recorder now presents generated summaries in a more structured format, using elements such as headings and tables to make information easier to review.

Security Brief brings selected security and privacy information into Now Brief. Samsung says this can include alerts involving malware, apps from unknown sources and unnecessary permissions, giving users another place to review potential concerns.

Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts by apps to access permissions in the background. Samsung notes that the feature may not account for every relevant factor.

Scam Detection is also expanding to more supported markets and languages. Samsung specifically lists Japan, Canada and India among the additional countries, while noting that availability can vary by country, region, language, device model and One UI version.

One UI 9 Rollout Will Vary by Market

Samsung has not announced one worldwide timetable covering every eligible Galaxy device. Its regional communications show that rollout dates can differ between markets.

In Thailand, Samsung says the Galaxy S26 series is scheduled to receive One UI 9 from 21 September, followed by the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z7 series on 28 September. The company says the rollout there will extend through the Galaxy S23 FE by October.

Samsung has separately expanded the One UI 9 beta programme to the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 FE in selected markets, including India, South Korea, the U.K. and the U.S. Samsung says availability and timing may vary by market.

Galaxy owners can check for software updates through the Software update section in Settings.
