Southampton welcome Liverpool to St Mary's in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, 2 December.

Where to watch

Kick-off is at 7.45pm GMT. Live TV coverage is available on Sky Sports 1 and Sky sports 1 HD. Radio commentary of the match is available on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Overview

Southampton welcome in-form Liverpool in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup, in a clash that will offer both teams the best chance of silverware this season, apart from the FA Cup. Both teams are unlikely to triumph in the Premier League, and even though the Reds have progressed to the last 32 of the Europa League, Jurgen Klopp and Ronald Koeman will know that the League Cup is a great opportunity to win a trophy before the end of the season.

Liverpool have won their last three games in all competitions and will look to make it four when they face Southampton on Wednesday. The Merseyside club lost to Chelsea in the semi-finals of the competition last season and will be keen to make it to the summit clash this time around.

Ronald Koeman's team are coming into this game on the back of a 3-1 loss at the hands of Manchester City, who have already progressed to the last four of the Capital One Cup. They will be keen to go on a good cup run as their Premier League form has been inconsistent compared to the heights they reached last season.

Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson are likely to be involved after making their injury returns with substitute appearances against Swansea City, while the Saints will have Graziano Pelle back in the squad after the Italian missed the trip to Etihad Stadium because of suspension.
