Swansea City take on La Liga outfit Valencia at the Mestalla in the Europa League on Thursday, as both clubs attempt to start their campaign with a victory.

Where to Watch Live

Kick-off is set for 6.00pm BST, with itv4 and itv4 HD providing live coverage in the UK.

Overview

Los Che booked their place in the competition by finishing fifth in Spain last season, while the Swans got their ticket by winning the Capital One Cup last term. Michael Laudrup's men also triumphed in their qualifiers against Malmo and Petrolul Ploiesti recently.

Both sides have endured a tough starts to their domestic seasons. Valenica are 16th in La Liga, with just three points from their first four games and are currently on a three-match losing streak, following their 3-1 loss to Real Betis at the weekend.

Swansea, on the other hand, are 13th in the Premier League, with four points from their first four outings. However, they impressed against league leaders Liverpool at the weekend, in a 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium.

The two sides are facing each other for the first time and the tie is also Swansea's first competitive game against a Spanish opponent. However, the Welsh club's winger and former Los Che star Pablo Hernandez will miss the clash, due to a hamstring injury.

What Players Say

Ever Banega: "It is a difficult time for us. To start the league in this way is not normal.. The other day we went wrong in everything. There was a lack of attitude and self-esteem. It was a disaster. We conceded three goals very quickly. But we have to continue. We have to start winning in order to gain confidence."

Angel Rangel: "Valencia are the favourites in the group, but if we stick to the way we play and do that well, then we always have a chance against teams. They had a bad result on the weekend, while we had a good point against Liverpool. Hopefully that will give us confidence going into this game."
