Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz may not land the job of president come November, but at least his female lookalike has nabbed a new job. A 21-year-old from Mississippi shot to internet fame on 19 April after appearing on the Maury Povich show.

Searcy Hayes, who looks uncannily like the Texas senator, is capitalising on her newfound fame and has agreed to make a six-minute porn tape for $10,000 (£6,903). Hayes first appeared on the show's "5 Men Tested ... Will I Find My Daughter's Father Today" episode to confront her 25-year-old fiancee Freddie Green after he claimed her 3-month-old son was not his. In typical Maury fashion, Green was tested and it was proven that he was indeed the boy's father.

Since then, the couple has been offered money in exchange for their own sex tape for the porn site XHamster, the NY Daily News reported. "We wanted Searcy because overnight she became a viral meme," XHamster spokesman Mike Kulich told The Huffington Post. "I think a lot of XHamster viewers really wanted to see her in action."

According to the Huffington Post, the couple has readily agreed to make their first public sex tape. Hayes reportedly has made other sex tapes privately, but has yet to move into the public sector. "I'm fine with it because everything is going to support my family," she told reporters. "I want to get my son whatever he wants."

Hayes works cleaning homes while her partner collects Social Security Income benefits due to a disability. Green said they were eager to say yes to the offer. "We want to buy a truck, pay off our house and we might get married," he said. "I never had anyone say, 'Here's $10,000! Go make a sex tape.'"

Despite making her famous, Hayes reportedly does not know much about Cruz and even said she had never heard of him before the resemblances was noted. "I don't know his positions and I've never seen him, so I don't know if he's done a good enough job to be re-elected," she told HuffPost. When the outlet informed her that Cruz has yet to become president, she responded, "Well, yeah, I don't know anything about him."

For his part, TV host Maury Povich is also jumping on the viral fame. He posted a special Facebook interview with Hayes that has amassed over 133,000 views.
