After Tom Hiddleston's successful portrayal of a spy in The Night Manager, rumours of the British actor being cast as the next James Bond have gathered momentum. The Thor actor himself has addressed reports surrounding his "announcement", while appearing as part of a panel at Wizard World Philadelphia.

When asked if he will be the next James Bond, Hiddleston said, [via Cinema Blend], "I don't think that announcement is coming, but I am very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. Your guess is as good as mine, to be honest."

Recently, a report in Birth Movies Death, claimed that the actor is in "advanced talks" with Eon Productions to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig. However, there is no official confirmation from the franchise about whether or not the actor would play the new James Bond.

Hiddleston also put all James Bond rumours to rest while appearing on the Graham Norton show. The Loki actor told the host, "I think the rumours have all come about because in the Night Manager I play a spy and people have made the link," and added, "The thing is the position isn't vacant as far as I am aware. No one has talked to me about it."

A recent Daily Mail report claimed that Daniel Craig has "quit" the James Bond franchise. According to its sources, "They threw huge amounts of money at him [Craig], but it just wasn't what he wanted." Craig, last played Bond in Spectre, which received a lukewarm response from the audience.
