The 66th annual Tony Awards were held at Manhattan's Beacon Theatre and the event saw theatre artists and television actors on the red carpet.

Jessica Chastain stole the show with a nude knee-length frock, made mostly of beads and pearls, designed by Mario Schwab. The 31 year old actress will make her stage debut with The Heiress, a play based on a short story by Henry James. The actress let her long blonde hair loose and wore a pair of silver satin Giuseppe Zanotti ankle strap peep-toes.

"My trick is to have amazing people around me. I have such a crazy schedule, so [stylist] Elizabeth Stewart helps me so much with finding things that she knows I'll love. I also have wonderful hair and makeup [people]," she told Celebuzz.

Singer Sheryl Crow was another red carpet beauty in her navy blue gown. Incidentally, this is the first time Crow has made a public appearance since being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

"Appreciate the love and support, I'm fine, really! Watch me on @TheTonyAwards!" Crow tweeted earlier.

Actress Amanda Seyfried wore a purple Givenchy spaghetti dress with gold embellished details, paired with Givenchy sandals, a thick orange belt and a matching clutch. The red lipstick she wore was so striking it was probably the most noticed element of the night!

Tracie Bennett wore a peach coloured floor-length netted gown, while Condola Rashad and actress Adrienne Warren opted for white and pink strapless long gowns. Taylor Louderman wore an interesting sequined dress and Lilla Crawford looked cute in a white dress adorned with gold details and a pair of gold ballet flats.

Hugh Jackman, Andrew Garfield, Ricky Martin, Neil Patrick Harris, Michael McGrath, Taylor Louderman, Lilla Crawford, Jeremy Jordan and Steve Kazee were the other celebrities who attended the 2012 Tony Awards.
