UAE: iPhone 6 in Gold Overbooked

UAE residents have reportedly pre-booked a whopping number of iPhone 6 models in 24-carat gold, confirmed the company behind the gold encrusted gadgets, reported Emirates 24/7.

Amjad Ali, the CEO of Gold & Co London, that manufactures the 24-carat gold iPads and iPhones said: "We have a total of 438 orders as of last night. The UAE is our biggest market. The local order-book is insane."

Ali confirms that the pre-orders have been coming in for the last six months now.

Apple is launching the iPhone 6 in three colours –gold, silver and space grey, however, Gold & Co London will be offering solid gold models of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in gold, rose gold, platinum and black gold.

The price of a 24-carat gold laden iPhone 6 starts at £3,000 (AED 17,995) and goes up to approximately £3,700 (AED 21,995).

Yet, the demand for the phones is higher than ever, says Ali, and definitely, "surpasses our expectations."

While Gold & Co produces several gold gadgets, they'll be skipping on the Apple Watch.

"I'm not sure if our clients, who will be sporting a very exclusive wrist-watch, will take that off for an Apple Watch," said Ali.
