Marouane Fellaini
Fellaini hasn't played since the defeat to Everton.

Manchester United manager David Moyes is hoping that Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones and Ashley Young are close to making a return to first-team action, in order to ease the club's injury problems.

Both Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie have been ruled out of Sunday's Premier League trip to Chelsea, two of nine absentees for the visit to Stamford Bridge.

But United's injury problems could be eased with the return to training of three players, including summer signing Fellaini, after separate back and wrist injuries.

"I think we had nine players out [last weekend against Swansea City]," manager David Moyes told MUTV.

"Fellaini will have the cast taken off his hand on Monday. I've heard one or two people say it was only a wrist injury but it was a serious wrist injury that needed a major operation. It was bad.

"It could have been for the rest of his life so we had to make sure he got his wrist sorted properly. He has been able to do lots of running and lots of training but not anything with a football. Hopefully, next week, we will get 'Felli' back.

"Jonny Evans has had a problem with his back and Phil Jones has had a problem with his knee. He's getting close to being available.

"Young's injury was from the challenge against Tottenham that we wanted a penalty kick for, but it's beginning to look as if he could be available and ready as well. We're beginning to get a few people back."

Fellaini has featured only 11 times for United this season due to injury, having been out since the 1-0 defeat to former club Everton at the start of December.

While Evans was absent for the league win over Swansea City, Jones has missed nearly a month since the victory over West Ham United.

Young, meanwhile, has been out since the loss to Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day and the trio's return will give Moyes further options as United look to reignite their challenge for a Champions League place.
