Victoria Beckham Tops Charts After Son Brooklyn's 'Nuclear' Claims Spark Fan Backlash
Fans Call Campaign 'Plot Twist of the Year' After Explosive Claims

Victoria Beckham hasn't topped the iTunes chart in 15 years. Now she's sitting at number one in both the UK and Ireland, and it's all thanks to a very public family meltdown.
Her 2001 solo track Not Such an Innocent Girl shot to the top this week after fans launched a viral campaign in response to her eldest son, Brooklyn's blistering Instagram statement on 19 January, Hello Magazine reported. The 26-year-old had accused his parents of trying to 'ruin' his marriage, controlling press narratives and 'hijacking' his wedding day.
The internet's response? Get Posh Spice to number one.
A 'National Tragedy' Fixed By Memes
Campaign organisers called Victoria's lack of a solo chart-topper a 'national tragedy'. She's the only ex-Spice Girl who never hit number one on her own, Malay Mail noted.
'Nothing says British culture like collectively deciding to send Posh to the top of the charts because her son roasted her on Insta,' read one post that went viral. 'Let's get her that number one for plot twist of the year.'
Comedian Katherine Ryan boosted the campaign on her Instagram Stories. By Wednesday, the 24-year-old song had leapfrogged Bruno Mars, Raye and Taylor Swift on iTunes.
Another Beckham track got dragged along for the ride. Out of Your Mind, her 2000 collaboration with True Steppers and Dane Bowers, jumped 62 spots to land at number nine in the UK and three in Ireland.
What Brooklyn Actually Said
Brooklyn's six-page Instagram statement pulled no punches. He said he doesn't want a reconciliation with his parents and accused them of years of controlling behaviour.
'For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family,' he wrote. 'I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life.'
He claimed they pressured him to sign away commercial rights to his name before his 2022 wedding to actress Nicola Peltz. He said Victoria pulled out of designing Nicola's dress 'at the eleventh hour'. And he alleged family members told him the night before the ceremony that his bride was 'not blood' and 'not family', NPR reported.
But the claim that set the internet alight was about a dance. 'In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife, but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead,' Brooklyn wrote. 'She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.'
Cruz Weighs In With A 'Like'
Youngest Beckham son Cruz, 20, couldn't resist wading into the mess. He liked a parody video from comedian Olly Hume that joked Victoria had requested Ginuwine's Pony for the mother-son dance, E! News reported.
He also posted an Instagram Story with Not Such an Innocent Girl playing in the background. Make of that what you will.
David's Careful Words From Davos
David Beckham was at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland when Brooklyn's statement dropped. He dodged reporters' questions but gave what sounded like a pointed answer during an interview with CNBC's Squawk Box, Fox News reported.
'Children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn,' he said. 'You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.'
Don't Pop The Champagne Yet
iTunes charts and the UK Official Singles Chart are different beasts. The official chart pulls data from streams, downloads, and physical sales across platforms. One iTunes purchase counts as about 150 streams in that calculation.
Back in 2001, Not Such an Innocent Girl peaked at number six after being steamrolled by Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out of My Head. Victoria sold 35,000 copies in week one. Kylie shifted 306,000.
The official chart drops Friday afternoon. Whether this viral moment gives Victoria her first solo number one after 25 years remains anyone's guess.
Neither Victoria nor David has publicly addressed Brooklyn's claims.
