Overview
The Hammers come into this game after a 3-1 away defeat against Norwich City before the international break. West Ham star Ravel Morrison opened the scoring just after the half four mark and Sam Allardyce's men went into the break with a one goal lead.
However, things did not go as planned for West Ham in the second half. Norwich equalised after the break through Gary Hooper before Robert Snodgrass and Leroy Fer gave the hosts a comfortable victory over the London club.
Meanwhile, Chelsea went into the international break after narrowly avoiding defeat against West Bromwich Albion as the game at Stamford Bridge, the game ending in a 2-2 draw. Samuel Eto'o gave Jose Mourinho's side the lead before Shane Long equalised for Steve Clarke's men.
Stephane Sessegnon eight minutes later gave West Brom the lead before Eden Hazard's strike from a controversial last-gasp spot-kick.
Chelsea are fourth in the league table with 21 points from 11 games, trailing league leaders Arsenal by four points while West Ham are 16th with 10 points.
What the Managers Say
Sam Allardyce: We can't keep saying good performances will eventually turn into results when they haven't when you're 11 games in. I think those good performances should have had a lot more wins behind them, on the way we played, the chances we created, the amount of clean sheets we've achieved this year already."
Jose Mourinho: "They are defensive and they give difficult matches to the big teams. That's why everybody is losing points, why no team is dominant, why everybody is losing points but keeping in contact at the top of the table. That's why this league has emotion every weekend, so I'm expecting a very difficult match."
