  • Hammers are set to pay around £20m for the forward.
  • Olympiakos left-back is expected to replace Aarons Creswell.

Slaven Bilić has confirmed that West Ham are "very close" to complete the signings of Swansea forward André Ayew and Olympiakos left-back Arthur Masuaku. Yet the Croatian boss suggests that once they tie up both deals the Hammers will not do more business, despite recently suggesting that five more players could join them before the end of the transfer window.

The East London side have already made five signings during the current transfer window in the shape of Håvard Nordtveit, Sofiane Feghouli, Gökhan Töre, plus further two additions for the future in Manchester United academy product Ashley Fletcher and Spaniard Toni Martínez.

However, they have failed to complete the signing of proven top scorer despite having been linked with a number of major names like new Chelsea signing Michy Batshuayi, Liverpool's Christian Benteke, Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette and the much-sought Carlos Bacca.

Reports later in the week broke that the Hammers had agreed a £20m ($26.14m, €23.58m) fee with Swansea to bolster the attack with Ayew and Bilić has now confirmed that the deal is all but done. Furthermore, the boss confirmed that they are also set to sign Masuaku to strengthen the left-back role after the serious pre-season knee injury sustained by Aaron Cresswell left him without a proven specialist for the role.

The boss said to BT Sport before the friendly game against Juventus as quoted by Essex Chronicle: "We are very close to signing a couple of players and that's it."

"We are very close to signing André Ayew from Swansea and we are very close to signing Arthur Masuaku, the French left back from Olympiakos. It's almost done, but until it's done it's never done."

Last week Bilić claimed that he hoped to add at least five more players to his squad ahead of the new season. However, he explained: "When I said a few days ago that we are expecting to get five players I didn't mean five new players – but players like [Dimitri] Payet, [Manuel] Lanzini and Cresswell who are going to be back.

"We are trying to get quality players but we have marquee players, Feghouli is a marquee player, Tore is a marquee player. Andre Ayew is a big time marquee player. It doesn't have to be someone for £70 million or £80 million, we can't afford it.

"But we are close to signing a couple of them; if those two players come then I'm quite happy with my squad."
