Spider-Man: Homecoming co-stars Zendaya and Tom Holland are dating despite remaining low-key about their romance and are "really connected", according to reports.

So why the big secret? A source told Entertainment Tonight that the couple have been trying to keep their relationship under wraps for "privacy reasons". Zendaya, 21, is a global superstar with 46.1m followers on Instagram alone.

The couple – who were first reported to be dating in July during their Spider-Man press tour – are still going strong. Holland, also 21, is said to have already met the former Disney star's parents. Another source told US Weekly: ''Tom has met Zendaya's family and they love him.''

Depsite the rumours, the actors have consistently shut down the claims. Zendaya told Variety in August only that Holland was one of her "best friends".

She said: "He's a great dude. He's one of my best friends. This past how many months we've had to do press tours together. There's very few people that will understand what that's like at 20 years old."

The California-born star brushed of the speculation as part of the job and told ET: "It happens all the time and of course we expected it. I mean, it comes with the territory. It comes with the job, so it's all good."

Holland, from London, is not the first star Zendaya has been romantically linked to. American football player Odell Beckham Jr and actor Trevor Jackson have previously been linked to the star.

Zendaya shot to fame in Frenemies, a 2012 Disney Channel original movie before gaining prominence for her role as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up from 2010 to 2013.
