Vitesse Arnhem Wilfried Bony would be open to joining Chelsea in the January transfer window should the opportunity arise.

The Ivory Coast forward is leading the scoring charts in the Eredivisie, having netted 12 goals in as many games for high-flying Arnhem.

And when asked about the possibility of him joining Chelsea, the Champions and League and FA Cup holders, Bony was unanimous in his response.

Wilfried Bony
Bony has scored 12 goals in as many games.

"It's not the number one topic for me at the moment, but if they write about me going there, then it's great isn't it?" Bony said.

"But seriously, if they want me, it would be a great honour. I would be glad to go to such a club.I love English football and wouldn't be afraid to play there. Chelsea are a top club."

"If Chelsea are interested in the winter and the clubs reach an agreement, then why not? We'll see what happens. At the moment I want to be playing as well as I can for Vitesse.

"I know that Chelsea and Arnhem are close and some of the Chelsea lads are here on loan, including Tomas (Kalas). I have discussed it with him many times already.

Bony is likely to be part of The Elephants' squad for the African Nations Cup in South Africa next year, a tournament that could do wonders for his reputation should he be given the opportunity to partner Didier Drogba in attack.

Both Drogba and Salomon Kalou are not only international teammates of Bony, but also formers employee at Stamford Bridge, and the 23 year old says while he hasn't asked the pair about their time in west London, he wouldn't be adverse to.

"No, we haven't at all," he added. "But if I wanted to know anything I'm sure they would advise me.

"They are normal guys who don't act like superstars. I have been learning from them."

With Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge the club's only first-team strikers, Roberto Di Matteo may be tempted to delve into the transfer window to assist the club's attempts to reclaim the European Cup and challenge for the Premier League title.
