Overview

Former world number two Agnieszka Radwanska comes into this clash on the back of a hard fought 7-6, 6-3 win over Elina Svitolina in the semi-final on 8 October. The Polish international is yet to win a major Grand Slam in her career, but has a wealth of experience on the tennis circuit with 19 WTA Tour titles to her name.

The 27-year-old has had a mixed year by her standards reaching the semi-final of the Australian Open and is the favourite to win her first title at Beijing.

Her opponent Johanna Konta too comes into this contest on the back of a pulsating 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 win over Madison Keys in the semi-final. While the Brit does not have the outright, flashy play of WTA's top players, what she does have is a steady, relentless, all-court attack, which has served her well in her career so far.

Konta, who like her opponent is yet to win a Grand Slam, will know that if she brings her A game she has a good chance of winning her first China Open title.

Head-to-head

The duo have faced each other once in the ATP tour and Grand Slam events, with Radwanska coming out on top.

China Open history

Radwanska and Konta have never faced each other at the China Open in the past.
