American Horror Story: Lady Gaga to make cameo in fifth season of TV freak show

Lady Gaga is preparing to make her small screen debut in American Horror Story.

The pop superstar will star in the fifth season of Brad Falchuk's FX series, when it airs in October.

Announcing her new gig on Twitter, Mummy Monster shared a short clip revealing next season's title and location. Wearing masquerade-style headgear, she told her 44.5 million followers to "make your reservation now".

Although show bosses are keeping tight-lipped about the Bad Romance singer's role, her cameo is expected to boost ratings significantly.

This is not the Grammy-winner first foray into the world of acting. Gaga's film credits include Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills and Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.

Season four of the anthology series featured queen of soul Patti LaBelle in a recurring role. The Lady Marmalade songstress played the mother of the character played by Precious star Gabourey Sidibe.
