Android Lollipop is now officially rolling out for Moto G (2014) users in the Netherlands Google

The all-important Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS update is now reaching Motorola's Moto G (2014) users in the Netherlands.

According to a TechStatic report, second-gen Moto G users residing in the Netherlands can check for Android Lollipop OS update via OTA.

The report hints at update being rolled out in phases, meaning it will take some time before it reaches all Moto G (2014) users in the country. Hence, do check your handsets for the Lollipop update, and let us know if you have received it in our comments section below.

The Android Lollipop OS upgrade can also be searched for manually by navigating to Settings > About Phone > Software update on your smartphone.

New functionality brought along with the Android Lollipop update

Moto G (2014) users will notice a brand new Material design UI and improved lockscreen notifications, after updating to the Android 5.0 OS.

Besides a new "Recent Apps" menu, the update brings along the Android ART runtime, which launches applications much faster.

Users will also notice a new Quick Settings menu and a new battery saver mode, which has been implemented as a result of Google's project Volta.

The new improved battery saver claims to automatically adjust the brightness of display and limits updates occurring in the background, leading to the overall battery life being enhanced by several notches.

How to install Android 5.0 within Moto G (2014):

Before installing the update, ensure that the battery of your device has 50% charge.

If you have received a notification message for this update:

  • Select 'Yes, I'm in.'
  • After the software is downloaded, select 'Install now.'
  • After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
  • Your phone is now updated.

  1. Select the Settings icon in the apps menu.
  2. Select 'About phone.'
  3. Select 'System updates.'
  4. Select 'Yes, I'm in.' After the software is downloaded, select 'Install now.'
  5. After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
  6. Your phone is now updated.
