‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on February 20, 2026, with new twists, returning favourites, and a gripping story about family and secrets. Apple TV Official Press Release

Apple TV+ is bringing back suspenseful drama 'The Last Thing He Told Me.' The second season will air on February 20th, 2026. Hannah, played by Jennifer Garner, has to confront a dangerous reunion with her long-absent husband, Owen, and a family on the brink.

A new chapter in Hannah and Owen's life

Season 1 ended with Hannah and her stepdaughter Bailey experiencing some peace after Owen disappeared. The show hinted that perhaps Owen was in witness protection, a quiet turn that was like a new beginning.

Now the story flips.

Five years later, Owen appears again, and the stakes become very high. The new season will disrupt the family's precarious balance. Hannah and Bailey will be pushed to their limits as they race against time to get back what they lost. The plot backstories extend beyond the cliffhanger of the first season, drawing viewers into the maze of secrets and urgency.

The cast grows and deepens

Jennifer Garner is back, bent on keeping Hannah alive on screen.

Nikolaj Coster- Waldau reprises Owen Michaels, Angourie Rice is Bailey, David Morse returns as Nicholas Bell. New faces - Judy Greer, Rita Wilson, Michael Galante, John Noble and Luke Kirby - are added to the cast, promising fresh twists and fresh emotion.

Garner told Variety in 2023, 'I just wrote letters to Laura advocating for myself and talking about what the book meant to me and what the role, what I saw in the role and the ways that I felt.'

'While Hannah and I are really quite different, there are some pieces of her that I just relate to so much. I had to get a chance to try it out,' she added.

Season 1 left a lot of questions unanswered: Why did Owen leave? What web of secrets holds him back?

The author of the novel, Laura Dave, gave a roadmap: After 'The Last Thing He Told Me,' I would get so many incredible notes from readers. The biggest question that they asked was, 'What happened next?' Dave explained.

'They were asking as if Hannah and Bailey and Owen were real people. And to me, at that point, they were. I spent so much time with them over this decade that I was working on the first book,' she said.

The new season is an adaptation of Dave's sequel, 'The First Time I Saw Him,' to come up with a path that felt both inevitable and surprising. Owen's return means that Hannah is forced to defend her family and face a past that won't stay in the past.

Themes of loyalty, secrets, and the lengths parents will go for their children, play out in tense, sometimes heartbreaking scenes.

It's going to be an emotional core

Season 2 will explore more deeply the emotional heart of what made the first run unforgettable. Angourie Rice reflects on her connection to Hannah.

'You can find joy and comfort and a happy future,' she told Today in 2023.

'Even if it's not the one you thought you were going to have five years ago, it's the place where you are, and the place where you end up is still meaningful and still important, even if it was unexpected,' she added.

This sentiment is the crux of the series, a struggle for belonging in the midst of chaos.

The relationships between the characters will be tested but the love between them will be the backbone of the show. Viewers will see how Hannah's fierce love for Bailey and her unwavering determination keep the family together, even as Owen's return threatens to tear them apart.

What to expect

The second season will be rolling out weekly and will begin February 20 and end April 10.

The pacing will remain snappy and each episode will reveal a piece of the puzzle. Laura Dave's involvement ensures continuity.

Fans can expect more suspense, more twists and more raw emotion. Grab your popcorn because the countdown is on. The drama that began with a simple disappearance will now turn into a whirlwind of danger, reunion and hope. Enjoy the ride.
