Alvaro Morata keeps showing why Arsene Wenger has earmarked him as Arsenal's main summer transfer target.

The Real Madrid starlet takes every opportunity to prove his worth, and after having scored in the last two games coming from the bench, he has become the most clinical striker in La Liga with a goal every 53 minutes.

The 21-year-old starlet has managed to net five goals this season, even though he has started just one domestic league game, playing a total of 265 minutes. Furthermore, he scored one goal in his only starting Champions League appearances against Schalke 04 last month.

His figures are even better than other La liga stars including his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored one goal every 85 minutes, and Barcelona hero Lionel Messi, who netted a goal every 78 minutes.

Meanwhile, Morata's statistics are even better than those of Premier League star Luis Suarez. The Liverpool striker is the current top scorer in Europe with 29 goals but while he has netted a goal every 87 minutes, Morata's rate is a goal every 53 minutes.

With this in mind and considering his lack of opportunities at Real Madrid, it is not hard to understand why the youngster is one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring his situation but reports in Spain claimed that Arsenal are leading the race to secure his services.

Spanish newspaper AS revealed last month that Morata has already agreed personal terms to join Arsenal at the end of the season but the Gunners are yet to agree a deal with Real Madrid, as the Spanish giants want to include a buy-back option.

Wenger is looking for a consistent back-up for Olivier Giroud and Morata has been earmarked as his main choice, as he is more affordable that other alternatives including Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa and Bayern Munich's Mario Mandzukic.
