Mohammed Shami was the star bowler for the world champions, snapping up four wickets including the crucial wicket of rival skipper Mushfiqur Rahim who scored 117 runs.

India's opening batsmen failed to start on a convincing note and Shikhar Dhawan (21) and Rohit Sharma (28) were gone with just 54 runs on the board.

Lasith Malinga couldn't impose himself on the game until the defending champions had lost five wickets. The fast bowler then snapped up the remaining five wickets to prevent Misbah-ul-Haq's side from achieving the target as they ran out of wickets in the 49th over for a total of 284 runs.
