HALF TIME

Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

Goal! Southampton 1-1 Chelsea (Eden Hazard, 45)

2:40: Full back Targett fights his way past a couple of challenges and takes the shot on coming in from the left but his effort is charged down. It's all gone a bit scrappy.

2:34: Southampton survive a siege on their goal as Chelsea probe. They eventually work the ball across goal for Costa but Matthew Targett does well to hack the ball clear. It's all a bit desperate, but Saints do enough.

2:29: Fabregas brilliantly drifts past his man down the inside left channel and lifts an inviting ball into the box that Schurrle is inches away from hooking into the net, but Fonte ushers the ball out.

2:22: What a finish from Mane! Chelsea's back line is broken as Pelle nods down into Tadic who frees Mane. One on one, the winger calmly clips the ball over the onrushing Courtois. It was John Terry who was caught out of position there, but it was a very clever move from Southampton.

Goal! Southampton 1-0 Chelsea (Sadio Mane, 16)

2:18: Southampton venture forward for the first time and almost catch Chelsea out as they work a neat ball back across goal but an excellent challenge from Terry prevents Fonte from knocking in at the near post.

2:11: Very strong start from Chelsea in these opening 10 minutes. Hazard finds Costa on the edge of the box but the Spain international takes too long to sort his feet out and the chance goes. Moments later Fabregas brilliantly slips in between two defenders but his ball across the box is hacked clear.

2:05: And we are off and underway at St Mary's.

1:55: Well, that's it from White Hart Lane. After a promising start, you could definitely tell this was a fixture slap bang in the middle of the festive period. Both sides tired in the second half and a draw was probably the fair result. Our focus now shifts towards St. Mary's where Southampton host the league leaders.

FULL TIME

Tottenham 0-0 Manchester United

1:47: We are into three minutes of added time, now. Tottenham are perhaps the stronger of the sides but the contest seems to be meandering towards a stalemate, despite the bright start in the first half.

1:41: Falcao is somewhat harshly shown a yellow card after accidentally clipping the trailing leg of Mason. Spurs lift the ball into the box where Fazio reacts quickest but the Argentine can't keep his effort on target under pressure from Smalling.

1:38: Couple of changes for Spurs; Erik Lamela replaces Nacer Chadli while Moussa Dembeli comes on for Andros Townsend

1:35: Juan Mata hauls down Eriksen about 25 yards out from goal and concedes a free kick. The Dane takes it himself and forces a decent save out of De Gea.

1:30: Kane threatens to breach the United back line but De Gea reacts brilliantly, springing off his line to come out of his box and sweep clear. Moments earlier Chris Smalling came onto replace Jonny Evans while Luke Shaw has since replaced Paddy McNair. United would appear to be playing a flat back four now.

1:24: What a chance for Mata! Rafael does brilliantly down the right flank, beating his man before cutting back a precise ball into the path of the Spaniard but leaning back he wildly slams it over the bar.

1:19: Quite a few niggly fouls are creeping into this contest and its inevitably disrupting the flow of the game. Nacer Chadli is the latest to be penalised after swinging a leg out at Michael Carrick.

1:15: van Persie is given a ticking off by the referee after clattering into Vertonghen down the inside right channel. Moments later Ben Davies cynically hacks down Falcao but somehow avoids a booking.

1:09: Kane is now on the receiving end of a ball into the box but needlessly goes to ground under the slightest pressure from McNair.

1:07: Harry Kane tears off down the inside right flank and drives a ball across goal where Fazio has broken into space but McNair tracks his run and hacks the ball away. Tottenham are cranking up the pressure.

1:01: And we are back underway for the second half. Rafael da Silva meanwhile has come onto replace Antonio Valencia.

HALF TIME

Tottenham 0-0 Manchester United

12:44: Young, who has been causing problems throughout this half, is freed again down the left flank by Mata. He cuts inside and whips a shot in towards the far post but Lloris reacts brilliantly to claw it away. Moments later Spurs counter but Mata makes an excellent last ditch challenge to break up the attack. And that will be half time.

12:39: What a chance for United! Carrick brillliantly finds van Persie's diagonal run into the box where the Dutchman plucks the ball out of the air. Lloris reacts well, but he gets a bit lucky as van Persie's second touch guides the ball into the Spurs goalkeeper and the home side survive.

12:37: van Persie and Vertonghen again duel for the ball but the Dutchman is judged to have fouled his opponent.

12:31: It has been a frenetic first half at White Hart Lane. United suddently counter with Mata finding Falcao inside the box. The Colombian shifts the ball onto his right foot and looks to curl one into the far corner but cannot get the purchase on the ball and Lloris collects his rather tame effort.

12:28: Couple of bookings for Tottenham, Stambouli is shown the first for clattering into Michael Carrick and then Andros Townsend, for some unknown reason, takes out Ashley Young while the wing back was going precisely nowhere.

12:26: Bit of chaos on the goal line as Rooney swings a corner into the box. United think they have the ball over the line as Phil Jones connects with a header but between Lloris and Vertonghen Tottenham survive.

12:24: Mata hits the post! From the free kick the Spaniard bends a wonderful effort over the wall but hits the woodwork, with neither van Persie or Falcao able to get onto the rebound.

12:22: van Persie again takes the ball down on the chest but is hauled down by Vertongen. United free kick.

12:20: Moments later Tottenham have a chance! Townsend takes the ball down on his chest and finds a yard of space but sees his effort charged down by McNair.

12:17: Great chance for United! Excellent play all round from United as Rooney finds Mata on the edge of the box. The Spaniard slips an excellent ball through for Falcao but the can only stab a shot straight into the arms of Lloris under pressure from Fazio.

12:12: Robin van Persie takes the ball down on his chest and brilliantly turns his Fazio. The Dutchman is clearly hauled down by Fazio in the process but the referee calmly waves his appeals away.

12:08: Vertongen hauls down Juan Mata and United have a free kick. The Spaniard swings one in towards the far post with Falcao lurking but Lloris does just enough to bat it away for a corner.

11:55: "I have players on the bench who have missed matches recently, so I could not change. The last match we dominated for 90 minutes, which I like. But we scored beautiful goals too and created a lot of chances. That is also important." [Louis van Gaal, via BT Sport]

11:50: United take on Tottenham Hotspur fielding an unchanged side for the first time since November 2012.
