Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have announced their divorce a day after their 10th wedding anniversary.

The power couple of Hollywood, who are parents to Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Samuel, 3, have said that the decision to part was mutual. That said, their marriage has been a subject of scrutiny for years and fans are wondering about the real reason behind the split.

Back in May, Us Weekly reported that the Batman V Superman star and his 43-year-old actress wife had been having problems for years due to his workload.

"They've had problems from the very beginning," Us weekly reported in May, citing Ben's workaholic nature and his lack of time for the family.

OK! magazine claims both Affleck and Garner have lived separate lives for years due to their constant fights.

"Jen wanted to bring the kids to visit him [on set] that summer, and he said no," a source told the magazine in May. "This turned into a very big rift because it was another two months before he came home and saw anyone."

The Dallas Buyers Club star reportedly celebrated her birthday alone this year, while the Batman star was spotted in Canada without his wedding ring.

"They had good times when they were living in Brentwood and hanging at Matt [Damon]'s house," an insider told the New York Daily News. "Things were definitely a lot more upbeat and optimistic then. Now there's friction and tension between them. They're like two ships passing in the night."

The couple issued a joint statement to People magazine announcing their divorce.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," the couple's statement read. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."
