Beyonce has revealed plans to direct and star in a new autobiographical documentary for HBO.

Beyoncé will make her directorial debut in a new autobiographical documentary.

Fans will be able to get an intimate insight into the Grammy award-winning singer's personal life in the short film which will include unreleased, behind-the-scenes footage as well as live performance footage.

The 32-year-old star, who is married to rapper Jay Z and has a number of successful film roles to her name, is believed to have also included footage from her personal laptop. The so far untitled film will air on HBO in February.

"This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home," Beyoncé said.

According to sources close to the project the Single Ladies hit maker wants the new documentary is to reveal "the person" behind the performer.

HBO president Michael Lombardo said: "Everybody knows Beyoncé's music, but few know Beyoncé the person

"Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé on stage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman."

A few weeks before the film is released she will grace the stage at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.
