Kelly Osbourne has revealed she looked like the 'Crypt Keeper' during a period of dramatic weight loss following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne, saying she was so overwhelmed by grief that she saw herself as 'a broken person.'

The 41-year-old said she only realised how thin she had become when she saw a photograph taken during a dress fitting ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards, where she attended a tribute to the Black Sabbath frontman alongside her mother, Sharon, and brother Jack.

Ozzy Osbourne died on 22 July 2025, aged 76. In the aftermath, Kelly said she was so consumed by grief that she struggled to recognise what others saw and no longer registered feelings of hunger.

She told The Mail on Sunday recently that she 'couldn't see what other people saw because I was in so much pain' and 'just saw a broken person.'

Grief, the Grammys and the Wig That Hid 'Scary' Weight Loss

The television personality said she attended the 2026 Grammy Awards with her mother, Sharon Osbourne, and brother, Jack Osbourne, to support the family and honour her father's legacy.

In hindsight, she believes she was not well enough to be there. 'I was scared,' she said. 'I wanted to be there to support my mum and to pay tribute to my father's legacy. But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don't think I should have gone. I wasn't very well.'

Kelly explained that she wore a wig to cover her face and make her gaunt cheekbones less visible, and that she and her team were trying to find clothes that would not make her appear thinner.

'I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn't see how skinny my cheekbones really were,' she said. 'They knew I was going through something. So, we were trying to find clothes to not make me look skinnier.'

Her description of her own reflection was stark. 'I looked like the fucking Crypt Keeper,' she told The Mail on Sunday. 'I said, 'This is scary. I didn't know I looked like this.' My spine, you could see every single bone.'

'A Part of Me Died, Too': Protecting Her Son and Planning a Grief Documentary

Kelly said the pain of bereavement affected something as basic as eating. 'You're filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can't even pop up,' she said. At home, she tried to shield her 3-year-old son, Sidney, from the depth of her sorrow.

'Whenever he walked in the room, something would come over me and I'd snap into Miss Fun Mum,' she recalled. 'I didn't cry in front of him; I'd walk out of the room. I always made sure that he was not exposed to inappropriate sorrow.'

She has since begun focusing on healing and is planning a three-part documentary series about grief and mental health, through which she intends to share more of her experience following her father's death.

'The person I was before my dad died is dead. That person doesn't exist anymore,' she said. In an August interview with HELLO!, Osbourne added, 'I'm getting a lot better. I've got all the help I need. I'm grateful for the support I have in life.'

She cautioned that recovery would not be quick. 'It's a slow process. It's going to take me a minute. I'm not going to be fixed in a day. I'm not going to be fixed in one therapy session. This is a lifetime of work I've got to do and continue to do for the rest of my life.'

The three-part project remains in the planning stage, and no title, broadcaster/platform or release date has been publicly announced.
