Pal Says Kim Kardashian, Lewis Hamilton 'Fit Perfectly' but Questions if Anyone Can Handle Her Level of Fame

Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton 'fit perfectly,' according to Kardashian's longtime friend Jonathan Cheban, who also suggested that very few people could adapt to the level of public scrutiny surrounding the reality star.

Speaking in Los Angeles at the 2026 Astra TV Awards on Aug. 15, Cheban said Kardashian had appeared 'really happy' when they spoke the previous day.

Kardashian and Hamilton have been the subject of growing media attention regarding their relationship, although neither has issued a formal statement defining its status. There has been no confirmed announcement of an engagement or wedding plans.

Cheban, the entrepreneur known publicly as Foodgod and a familiar face from Keeping Up with the Kardashians, offered a warm appraisal while keeping some distance from the details. He said that he hoped things worked out for Kardashian, referring to the pair, who have been widely reported as a couple, as 'beautiful.'

'I really think that they are a beautiful couple, and it looks like they fit perfectly,' Cheban said. 'So I hope the best for her. She is an amazing person. I actually spoke to her yesterday and she was really happy.'

He added, 'I love her and I don't ask too much. I kind of stay out of that because I've been through it a bunch of times. But I also love Kanye.'

That last remark is a reminder of the unusually public history surrounding Kardashian's relationships. Her marriage to Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, played out under intense media attention before their divorce was finalised in 2022.

Hamilton has also spent years in the public eye, and has had his personal life closely followed by the media. He was also in an on-and-off relationship with singer Nicole Scherzinger for several years.

Cheban suggested Kardashian's level of fame presents a particular challenge. He said many celebrities did not face the same degree of scrutiny over their appearance, clothing and personal lives.

'Yeah, hers is even still a different type of fame than pretty much anybody else's,' he said. 'And I don't know if anybody is able to handle the 24-hour fame.'

The comment was framed broadly rather than as a specific judgement on Hamilton's ability to manage the attention. Cheban appeared to be describing the level of public scrutiny that surrounds Kardashian.

'A lot of people are famous, but they don't get followed, and they don't care about what they're wearing, what they look like every second of the day,' he said.

'So, to me, that's a different kind of fame, and I don't know if anybody is ready for it. So maybe Tom Cruise. God, I love him.'

Asked whether an engagement could follow, Cheban avoided offering anything definite. 'I don't want to say too much because when I talk about people's love lives or marriages, I get in trouble,' he said. 'But they are a hot couple.'

Public fascination with Kardashian's love life often exceeds what has been confirmed publicly, while Hamilton has generally been more guarded when discussing relationships than when talking about his on‑track career.

To date, there has been no confirmed announcement of an engagement or wedding plans, and neither Kardashian nor Hamilton has issued a formal statement about the status of their relationship.

The awards setting made for a glossier backdrop than the relationship chatter. The Hollywood Creative Alliance's 2026 Astra TV Awards were held in Los Angeles on Aug. 15, with actor Lisa Ann Walter hosting the ceremony.

HBO Max medical drama The Pitt emerged as the night's biggest winner, taking seven awards across the drama categories. Beef took five awards, while Hacks and Shrinking each collected four.

Cheban attended while continuing to develop television projects alongside Foodgod, the food-focused personal brand that turned extravagant dishes into his own corner of celebrity culture.

Speaking about his Foodgod brand, Cheban said it had changed his life by allowing him to operate independently.

'It has changed my life so that I don't depend on anybody,' he said of the brand. 'I'm like my own entity. So, like, it doesn't matter what I do or don't do. I'm always just Foodgod.'

He described himself as an early adopter of viral food videos, particularly the over-the-top variety.
