A 37-year-old man has been charged with the murder of the parents of Birmingham policeman.

Avtar Kolar, 62, and wife Carole, 58, were found in their home in Handsworth Wood by their son Jason, a West Midlands Police officer, on 11 January.

The couple had been killed by repeated blunt-force trauma to the head.

Rimvydas Liorancas, a Lithuanian national, will appear at Birmingham magistrates court on Thursday morning.

A 24-year-old man has been released on police bail in connection with the attack, while a 41-year-old was released without charge.
