A car smashed into a bus at a roundabout in the early hours of 4 May in south London.

A black Volkswagen car collided with the double decker at a roundabout off Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath, with the driver of the car fleeing the scene.

Witnesses reported the car suffered major damage in the smash, with Shane Gillespie, 27, telling The News Shopper: "The car was very damaged, inside all the airbags had gone off.

"There wasn't anyone on the bus I think, it was out of service. Everyone seemed alright, no one seemed injured."

Scotland Yard said no injuries had been reported. "The driver of the car left the scene, the bus driver didn't," a police spokesman said. The crash happened at around 3am.
