The hosts have not been at their best this tournament, starting the campaign with two stalemates against South Africa and Iraq, which saw them on the brink of failure to progress into the knockouts. However, a brilliant performance against Denmark in their last group game, where they hit the European side for four saw them into the next round.
They were back in action in the quarters, beating South American rivals Colombia 2-0 in what was a heavily fought affair. Neymar broke the deadlock for the hosts with a beautiful free-kick from range and doubled their lead late into the second half through Luan, who had a brilliant game.
Meanwhile, Honduras have been a major surprise package in the tournament, qualifying from their group ahead of the likes of Argentina and Algeria. The Central African side have been very solid at the back, which showed as the South Koreans battered them with attack after attack but Honduras held firm and progressed to the next round with a counter attack in the 59th minute.
Goalkeeper Luis Lopez was by far the best player on the pitch, making save after save to deny the Koreans, who came into the knockouts scoring 12 goals in the group stages.
