Canadian Teacher Suspended After Students Discover Sexually Explicit Photos of Him on Reddit
Jimmy Ho admitted conduct unbecoming a teacher after students discovered sexually explicit material linked to his professional identity online.

A British Columbia high school teacher has agreed to a two-week suspension of his teaching certificate after students discovered sexually explicit images of him on a publicly accessible Reddit account that also identified him as a teacher.
Jimmy Ho, who taught in Richmond, admitted conduct unbecoming a teacher in a consent resolution agreement published in October 2026. His two-week suspension will run from 25 October to 7 November.
Students Found Account Through Online Search
Two Grade 11 students discovered Ho's Reddit account through an internet search on or around 15 September 2023, according to the disciplinary account.
One of the first results showed a photograph of Ho wearing a pink shirt at the school, alongside a link to his personal, publicly accessible Reddit account. The students recognised him.
They then found posts and comments he had made across different Reddit communities. These included nude photographs, images of him engaged in sexual acts and other sexually explicit material.
The account's profile page also contained clothed photographs of Ho connected to school activities, including one taken at the school.
The students reported feeling shocked and told other teachers what they had found because they considered the posts inappropriate. News of the account subsequently spread through the school community.
School District Placed Ho On Leave
School District No. 38 in Richmond placed Ho on leave on 17 September 2023, two days after the students' discovery.
The district reported the matter to the British Columbia Commissioner for Teacher Regulation on 10 October 2023. An investigation was ordered on 31 January 2024.
Ho subsequently entered into a consent resolution agreement, accepting that the facts set out in the disciplinary account were true and that his conduct was unbecoming of a teacher.
The two-week suspension applies to his teaching certificate. It is separate from the leave imposed by the school district following the discovery of the account.
Regulator Cites Connection To Teaching Role
The disciplinary concern centred on the availability of sexual images on a public website where Ho was also identifiable as a teacher. His account contained both explicit material and clothed photographs connected to school activities, including an image taken at the school.
'By having sexual images of himself available on a public website, where he was identified as being a teacher, Ho failed to maintain the integrity, credibility and reputation of the teaching profession,' the disciplinary account states.
The school photograph provided a recognisable connection between Ho's professional identity and the account. The students recognised him before examining the profile and finding the explicit posts. The material was therefore accessible through an account they could associate with a teacher at their school, rather than through an anonymous profile.
British Columbia's professional conduct policy links the standards expected of educators to the public trust placed in them. In this case, the regulator's stated concern was the combination of public access to the sexual images and Ho's identification as a teacher.
The reported findings do not state that Ho sent the images directly to students or that the explicit photographs depicted pupils. The disciplinary account instead addresses what students could discover through the publicly accessible profile.
Suspension Begins On 25 October
Ho agreed to a suspension running from 25 October to 7 November 2026. The disciplinary outcome was reached through a consent resolution agreement rather than a criminal court proceeding.
British Columbia's professional conduct policy requires teaching certificate holders to meet and maintain standards of professional conduct and competence.
The policy identifies public trust in educators as the basis for those requirements, stating that professional standards support confidence in the teaching profession and school system.
In Ho's case, the regulator's stated concern was the connection between publicly accessible sexual material and his professional identity.
