Captain America: Civil War is being filmed in Atlanta, and a new report suggests that Steve Rogers may wield Thor's hammer in the movie.

According to Superherohype Forums, a user named Charleswelsh has claimed that he sneaked on the sets of the film in Atlanta, Georgia last Wednesday and saw a stunt being prepared that involved Captain America holding a "CGI stand-in prop that was shaped like a double sided hammer".

Thor's hammer, the Mjolnir, is one of the most powerful weapons in the universe, which is why only those who are "worthy of it" can lift it. In the Marvel Universe, we have only seen three individuals lifting the mighty weapon: the God of Thunder Thor himself, his father Odin, and The Vision.

In the comics, Captain America picked up Mjolnir in The Mighty Thor #390 (1988) and used its immense power to defeat the Egyptian God of Death and his followers.

Although Steve Rogers could not lift Thor's hammer in Avengers: Age of Ultron, we might get to see him do so in the upcoming movie.

Charleswelsh also mentioned that he was witness to a scene involving Captain America and the Scarlet Witch fighting soldiers at the Atlantic Civic Center, which was transformed into the Institute for Infectious Diseases.

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued effort to safeguard humanity.

After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team.

The new status quo fractures the Avengers, while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Captain America: Civil War will hit theatres on 6 May 2016.
