Channing Tatum celebrated his birthday with a slice of simple living. The Hail Caesar! actor escaped the city for a trip to the woods with his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum and their daughter Everly.

Channing, who turned 36 on 26 April, posted a video message on Instagram in which he showed off the four-legged birthday present he got from his wife. Jenna gifted him the rescue horse named Cajun, which the Magic Mike star later took for a leisurely ride through the woods.

He even let his daughter paint his face a mix of blues and greens and showed off his little girl's work in the video. "Braveheart paint by Evie, new rescue horse named Cajun on a sunset ride," he shared in his post. "Thanks for all the birthday wishes."

Aside from the horse, which the actor referred to as "best birthday gift ever", wife Jenna also posted a number of romantic messages to her hubby.

"'To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage.' - Lao Tzu. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LIFER," she wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of the two posing next to their trailer. "My country boy."

A week before his birthday, Channing launched his new vodka Born & Bred at the 73rd Annual Convention at Caesars Palace, which was organised by The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America.

On the film side, he has signed for the Kingsman sequel The Golden Circle and is reported to be playing the role of an American spy. Announcing the news, he tweeted: "I'm about to get all up in that golden circle."
