Mourinho Reveals Thoughts On United's Disappointing Form
Jose Mourinho says anything is possible as Manchester United now look to do the unthinkable and make a comeback into title contention as the season edges towards its halfway point.
United have won just five of their last ten matches and after falling to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Everton they are five points off the top four and a whopping 12 off league leaders Arsenal.
Their form is in stark contrast to Chelsea who won their third game in a row against Sunderland last night and are currently sitting in second place. But Mourinho isn't discounting the current title holders yet, insisting that anything can happen with a tough schedule coming up over Christmas.
"It's difficult but with Manchester United everything is possible," he told reporters, via BBC Sport.
The Blues manager has gotten his club back on track after a shaky start to the season and their 4-3 win over Sunderland was a sign of their fight-back attitude, Mourinho claimed.
"We played a phenomenal game, the best game away from home," he said.
"It was top quality, building up well, great creativity with the three attacking players behind Fernando [Torres] - [Juan] Mata, Willian and Eden [Hazard]. We scored beautiful goals and even the fourth was a nice counter-attack situation.
"It was a very good performance. Even defensively, I think we did well, but in the last six minutes of extra time, if they had two more corners, they would have won 5-4."
Chelsea now face a tough away fixture against Stoke before the side play their final Champions League game against Steaua Bucharest. The west London side are on the brink of qualification for the final 16 in the European competition and will be hoping to recreate the successful spell in the 2011-12 season which led to the side winning the Champions League trophy.
