More than eight million people live in New York City, travelling by foot, bike, car, taxi, bus or train. But despite all these people in the Big Apple, it appeared no one came forward to help a woman with her head stuck in the doors of a subway train.

A video of the incident has gone viral. The video, posted on Instagram shows the woman with her head trapped between the doors while her bag hangs outside. The rest of her body is inside the stationary train.

The whole time that she is there, several people walk past, spotting the woman but all of them simply choose to turn a blind eye.

Even a woman wearing the uniform of a Metropolitan Transportation Authority official walks past without batting an eyelid.

"While this is an unfortunate incident, the passenger was able to get out safely with assistance from our train operator," said Metropolitan Transport Authority (MTA) spokeswoman Beth DeFalco. "Because the doors were ajar, the train was never in danger of moving."

The MTA also confirmed that the woman wasn't injured in the incident.

The video that has earned more than 1.4m views, has also drawn a lot of flak for the one who shot it with many slamming the person for preferring filming the incident over helping the woman out.
