Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez have officially announced their engagement after eight years together. The news broke on Monday, 11 August 2025, when Rodríguez shared a photo on Instagram that showed an oval-cut diamond ring with the caption: 'Yes I do. In this and in all my lives'. The announcement quickly trended worldwide, with searches for 'Cristiano Ronaldo wife' surging despite the couple not yet being married.

The engagement comes after years of speculation, with the football superstar and the Argentine–Spanish model first meeting in late 2016 and publicly confirming their relationship in early 2017.

The $4 Million Engagement Ring

The engagement ring worn by Rodríguez is an oval-cut diamond set in platinum with large side stones. In a report by The Cut, jeweler Maggi Simpkins estimated the ring to cost between $2 million and $4 million. However, she clarified that the price still depends on the quality of the ring.

The luxurious design has been described as a symbol of Ronaldo's taste for high-end custom pieces. Images of the ring have dominated social media, with fans praising both its size and elegance.

The ring's oval cut is known for maximising brilliance while maintaining a timeless, elongated shape. While neither Ronaldo nor Rodríguez has confirmed the jeweller responsible, experts suggest it may have been custom-made for the occasion.

Children's Reactions and Family Role

The engagement is a milestone for the blended Ronaldo–Rodríguez family, which includes Cristiano Jr. (15), twins Eva and Mateo (8), Alana Martina (7), and Bella Esmeralda (3). The couple has not publicly shared how the children were involved in the proposal, but fans have speculated they may have been part of the celebration.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez have often included their children in major life events, from public appearances to family holidays. Bella and Alana were prominently featured in the Netflix reality series I Am Georgina, which documents Rodríguez's life behind the scenes.

An 8-Year Romance from Madrid to Saudi Arabia

The couple first met when Rodríguez was working in a Madrid Gucci store and Ronaldo was shopping there. They were spotted together at various events before making their first public appearance at The Best FIFA Football Awards in January 2017.

Over the years, they have shared significant personal milestones. In November 2017, Rodríguez gave birth to their first child together, Alana Martina. In April 2022, the couple welcomed twins Bella Esmeralda and Ángel, though Ángel tragically died at birth.

In January 2023, Ronaldo signed with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, prompting a move to Riyadh. Reports at the time highlighted that the couple were granted an exception to Saudi Arabia's law prohibiting unmarried couples from living together, given their high-profile status.

Marriage Speculation Before the Engagement

Speculation about a wedding has followed the couple for years, especially after Ronaldo occasionally referred to Rodríguez as his 'wife' in interviews. In early 2025, Ronaldo told the media they would marry when they felt the 'click', further fuelling rumours.

Rodríguez's Netflix series I Am Georgina has also hinted at marriage discussions, keeping fans invested in their love story. The engagement announcement now confirms that the couple are ready to take the next step, marking a new chapter in one of football's most-followed relationships.
