US rapper Nicki Minaj muddles issue by proposing $10M challenge for Dez Bryant to fight her husband.

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant publicly criticised team owner Jerry Jones on social media after being referenced during ongoing contract disputes involving linebacker Micah Parsons. The incident took place in early August 2025 and has since sparked a wave of online reactions, with rapper Nicki Minaj unexpectedly entering the controversy by offering Bryant $10 million to fight her husband, Kenneth Petty.

Jerry Jones' Remarks Reignite Old Tensions

During a media appearance addressing Micah Parsons' trade request and contract negotiations, Jerry Jones cited Bryant's 2015 contract as an example of why he avoids dealing with agents. Jones specifically referred to Roc Nation, the agency representing Bryant at the time owned by Jay-Z, implying that the negotiation process was problematic and served as a cautionary tale.

Jones stated that he 'learned from the Dez Bryant deal' and preferred to engage in direct discussions with players, rather than going through third-party agencies.

Bryant Fires Back on Social Media

Dez Bryant reacted strongly to Jones' remarks, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a warning. He posted: 'JERRY JONES I DON'T THINK IT'S SMART TO MENTION MY NAME... I KEPT QUIET ABOUT A LOT OF UNFAIR SHIT... WE CAN HAVE STORY TIME IF THAT'S WHAT WE ARE DOING.'

Bryant's post implied that there were undisclosed issues behind the scenes during his tenure with the Cowboys. The tweet went viral within hours, prompting speculation among fans and analysts about what Bryant may reveal if he chooses to speak out further.

Roc Nation Issues Public Rebuttal

Roc Nation Sports responded to Jones' comments with a public statement. The agency described Jones' remarks as 'false' and 'comical', outlining the details of the negotiation process that led to Bryant's five-year, $70 million contract in 2015, which included $45 million guaranteed.

According to Roc Nation, the deal was negotiated professionally and concluded with multiple face-to-face meetings in New York, including one at the 21 Club restaurant. At the time, it was the second-largest contract ever signed by an NFL wide receiver.

Nicki Minaj Joins the Feud with $10M Offer

Amid the ongoing social media storm, although she was not mentioned in any of these statements, rapper Nicki Minaj entered the fray by offering Dez Bryant $10 million to fight her husband, Kenneth Petty. The challenge came after Bryant engaged with Minaj's posts and mentioned her name in a series of tweets, escalating the situation into a trending topic across platforms.

Minaj was the first one to mention Bryant in a tweet, asking if he wants to play a game. He then replied with a GIF that says 'I want to play a game' but later tweeted that Minaj should 'leave [him] out of it' because he does not want any problem and he is a 'huge fan'.

However, Minaj was far from over. The rapper then went on to bring Bryant's past domestic violence case back for allegedly assaulting his mother, and then said that since he is 'beating' his own mother, why not fight her husband Petty for $10 million in cash. Bryant responded by telling Minaj to go get the cash because he would 'stomp her husband in front of her'.

Minaj has not tweeted back since then but the offer drew widespread attention from her fanbase, the Barbz, as well as NFL followers, further intensifying the online drama.

Bryant Issues Public Apology

Shortly after Minaj's involvement, Bryant released a statement apologising for his online conduct. In a follow-up post, he wrote: 'I'm not in the sphere of people crashing out on the internet. I don't bother people..I never do'. He then apologised to the kids who follow him because he 'care about setting the right example'.
