Rumours are afloat that casting for the five main supporting roles for The Flash solo movie is currently underway. But it is too early to tell if these characters would make an appearance in the film, which opens in theatres on 16 March 2018.

According to Heroic Hollywood, the five roles for which test are underway include the characters of Iris West, Eobard Thawne, Fred Chyre, Leonard Snart and Jay Garrick. The report, however, does warn that sometimes character breakdowns are posted to search for a specific type, instead of the role that has been advertised for.

The first role is that of Iris West, Barry's love interest. West is a reporter at The Central City Citizen and has been described as someone "having Christiane Amanpour's brains and Carrie Bradshaw's style". According to the report, actresses are currently auditioning for the role of West.

Next up is Eobard Thawne, Barry's arch nemesis, who has been described as the "smartest man in the room", earning him the title of "Central City's Bill Gates". Also known as the Reverse-Flash or Professor Zoom, he suffers from advanced degenerative disease, which confines him to a chair.

Len Snart aka Captain Cold, who is an ex-military, will be working for Thawne. The breakdown speculates that Snart will be the muscle guy, similar to Callan Mulvey's Anatoli Knyazev character in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

In the movie, Barry's closest thing to a friend is Fred Chyre, who the action hero meets for the first time at a crime scene. Chyre a "gruff detective" will be investigating an unusual death at Thawne Laboratories.

Lastly comes the character of Jay Garrick – a former Central City professor – who was fired for "fringe science" when working on the speed force program. However, in the comics Garrick appears 16 years before Barry. According to the news report Garrick will have a cameo role.
