Galaxy Nexus I9250
Galaxy Nexus I9250 Gets Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean Based CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly ROM .

The Galaxy Nexus I9250 continues to attract much attention from Android developers, with due credit to its impressive hardware configuration and device popularity among Android geeks. An earlier IBTimes UK report discussed a step-by-step guide to install Android 4.1 based CM10 ROM on your Galaxy Nexus I9250. Although the new CyanogenMod 10.1 ROM is still a nightly build, it brings a very stable release for daily use.

Though the nightly release is far from any of the final releases, it brings the highest degree of customisation capability to your device, alongside a plethora of latest Jelly Bean features onboard such as multi-user support, gesture typing, new quick settings option, lock-screen widget, new camera app, photo sphere, improved Google Now, new daydream feature and miracast display.

NOTE: As the CM10.1 ROM is a nightly release, it may harbour a few untested bugs or broken features including FC errors, boot-loops and boot failures. In case you have any such problems, just reinstall the stock firmware or any other stable custom ROM to resolve the issue.

Pre-requisites

  • Make sure that your Galaxy Nexus phone is rooted with ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) installed on it.
  • Verify that the correct USB drivers are installed for Galaxy Nexus I9250 on your computer (download USB drivers)
  • IBTimes UK advises users to back up apps, important data and settings to avoid data loss while flashing the CM10.1 nightly ROM on the Galaxy Nexus I9250.
  • The CM10.1 ROM and instructions provided in this guide are compatible only with the international variant - Galaxy Nexus I9250 model. It will not work on any other device. Verify your device's model number by navigating to Settings > About Phone.
  • Ensure that USB Debugging mode is enabled on your phone by navigating to Settings > Developer Options (if device is running Android 4.0) or Settings > Applications > Development (if device is running Android 2.3). Else if you are running Android 4.2 on the device, then do the following steps:
    • Go toSettings> About phone

o Browse and select the "Build number" at the bottom

o Tap on "Build number" about seven times. Right after the third tap, you will see a dialogue box that says you are only four taps away from being a developer. Continue tapping four more times. Now, the Developer Options will be visible under settings and you can enable USB Debugging mode.

  • Make sure that your phone has at least 85 percent battery charge to avoid unexpected device shutdown (due to battery drain) while installing the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean firmware on the Galaxy Nexus I9250.
