OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone brands, has been in the news predominantly for its affordable One smartphone, which was sold in two rounds of pre-orders, the latest of which was held on 17 October.
If you've managed to procure a 'budget' OnePlus One smartphone (global variant), then you have lots to cheer about, as OnePlus has announced that buyers in India will be covered under warranty coverage along with being eligible to receive after-sales service in the country.
What OnePlus' latest announcement means to buyers?
If you live in India, and have purchased/pre-ordered the OnePlus One from the company's global website, you will be eligible to receive service from your nearest authorised local retailer, and need not fret about having to ship your smartphone overseas for repairs.
"The ardent support of our fans in India has played a big role in enabling us to prepare for India so quickly. Your belief in our product, our mission and the brand has been integral to the growth of OnePlus," states OnePlus, in an official news release.
However, if you have procured/pre-ordered a Chinese version of OnePlus One (most likely via unofficial sources), then be informed that your device will not be covered under OnePlus's global warranty scheme of things.
When will the OnePlus One launch?
As of now, it is unclear as to when OnePlus One will be officially launched in India, but the smartphone is expected to cost approximately £238 ($372 ,INR 23,000).
OnePlus has also made official its plan, to launch an India-specific invite system, for the convenience of prospective buyers in India.
Currently, on its official website, OnePlus states that it is not finished selling the One smartphone globally, which means that more pre-orders could be around the corner.
