Recent developments in the casting for the "Hawkeye" Disney Plus series has Hailee Steinfeld on the list. Multiple sources revealed that she has been offered an important role as Kate Bishop.

Insiders told Variety that should Steinfeld join the series, she is likely going to play the lead role of Kate Bishop. In the Marvel comic books, the character plays an important role because she took up the Hawkeye mantle from Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner). She is also a member of a team of superheroes called "The Young Avengers."

Marvel has yet to confirm Steinfeld's casting in the "Hawkeye" Disney Plus series. But if it pushes through, then it puts rumors to rest that Hawkeye's eldest daughter, Lila, in "Avengers: Endgame" is Kate Bishop.

A scene at the beginning of the film, before the snap happens, had fans speculating about Bishop's inclusion in future Marvel films. This scene shows Barton teaching his daughter archery and when she hits the bullseye, he calls her "Hawkeye."

The "Hawkeye" Disney Plus series is still two years out so fans still have a long wait to know who the rest of the cast is. Renner, of course, will reprise his role as the titular superhero. Jonathan Igla has reportedly been tapped to write and executive produce the show.

The wait gives Steinfeld enough time to decide whether to accept the role or not given that it requires commitment. Taking on the character of Kate Bishop would mean her involvement in Phase V of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has since revealed that the shows will be related to the movies and this means a possible appearance in the Marvel films for the Kate Bishop character. If Steinfeld accepts the role, this means years in contract with Marvel.

Steinfeld has had many films under her name but she gained recognition and an Oscar-nomination for her breakout role in "True Grit." She recently appeared in "Bumblebee" and showcased her singing prowess in two "Pitch Perfect" films. She was also the speaking voice as Spider-Gwen in the animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse." The 22-year old has been in demand playing the role of Kate Bishop in the "Hawkeye" Disney Plus series might just land her among Hollywood's A-list.
