Arrow season 5
Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak in Arrow The CW

There is some bad news for Oliver and Felicity's fans in Arrow season 5. Actress Emily Bett Rickards has confirmed that Felicity Smoak will be getting a new boyfriend in the upcoming season, after breaking up with Oliver Queen (played by Stephen Amell) last season.

Rickards spoke to TV Line during 2016 Comic-Con and confirmed "It is a true rumor. She [Felicity] steps on it pretty hot off the bat. You'll meet him quite quickly."

Meanwhile, co-actor Stephen Amell has commented on how Oliver will react to Felicity's new guy. Amell teased, "I think he'll be fine.I think he'll be fine. He will hug a pillow, much like I'm hugging a pillow right now, but he'll do it in private. Or the opposite of that." Willa Holland, who plays Oliver's sister Thea Queen in the show, added, "The whole episode was kind of shaking." Amell also joked, "We meet him in episode one, he dies in act four, " following this the entire cast laughs out.

"And Felicity cries, and Oliver's there to cover the tears," Rickards added. "I didn't know what happened, he got shot with an arrow in the head? Don't look at me,'" Amell playfully added.

Arrow season 4 finale found Felicity saving million people by disabling the Nuclear missile and the after effects of Havenrock blast, wherein thousand people died. Executive producer Wendy Mericle also teased a difficult season ahead for Felicity.

Mericle told Zap2it, "She's really, in the beginning of the season, grappling with the fallout from what happened at Havenrock and that will be a huge focus for her in the first nine [episodes]."

"She's asking herself the same question that every other character on the show is this year, which is about legacy. I think it'll become, if she wants to go back to Palmer Tech. and try to fight for that, if that's what she thinks her legacy should be, then she certainly will," the showrunner added.

Arrow season 5 will premiere on 5 October on The CW Network.
