'The Inbetweeners 3': Release Date, Story, Cast Members and Everything We Know So Far
The original cast returns for 'The Inbetweeners 3' after over a decade

'The Inbetweeners' is officially returning for a third feature film, with Netflix confirming on 7 September that production has begun in the UK and that the original four stars will reunite more than a decade after 'The Inbetweeners 2'.
The announcement ends years of uncertainty over whether Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas would come back together for another movie.
The new film will reunite Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas in their familiar roles. But when will 'The Inbetweeners 3' be released, what will it be about, and which other cast members are returning?
When Will 'The Inbetweeners 3' Be Released?
There is no confirmed release date for 'The Inbetweeners 3' yet. Production officially began in the UK on 7 September 2026, according to Netflix.
The streaming service has not announced when the film will premiere or whether it will receive a theatrical release before arriving on Netflix. Some reports have suggested a 2027 release could be possible, but Netflix has not confirmed a year. For now, fans will have to wait for an official announcement.
What Will 'The Inbetweeners 3' Be About?
Specific plot details are being kept under wraps. Netflix has confirmed that the film will continue the story of Will McKenzie, Simon Cooper, Jay Cartwright and Neil Sutherland, the four friends at the centre of the original sitcom.
The first teaser gives one early clue about their reunion: the characters are seen climbing into Simon's familiar yellow Fiat Cinquecento. It shows the group attempting to start the car before eventually getting it moving, but it does not reveal where they are going or what situation brings them together again.

The new film will reunite the characters years after the events of the original series and films, with the four actors returning to their roles as adults. The original sitcom followed their misadventures at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive, where they dealt with friendship, relationships, school and attempts to impress girls.
Who Is in 'The Inbetweeners 3'?
All four original leads have been confirmed. Simon Bird will return as Will McKenzie, the academically inclined member of the group who often considers himself more mature and sophisticated than his friends. James Buckley will reprise his role as Jay Cartwright, whose claims about his sexual exploits were among the sitcom's recurring jokes.
Blake Harrison will return as Neil Sutherland, the often confused but good-natured member of the group. Joe Thomas will be back to play Simon Cooper, whose romantic troubles and attempts to impress girls were central to many of the original stories.
The film's supporting cast has not yet been fully announced. It remains unclear whether actors including Emily Atack, who played Charlotte Hinchcliffe, or Emily Head, who portrayed Carli D'Amato, will return. It was reported that the rest of the cast had yet to be confirmed when Netflix announced the production.
Who Is Making the Film?
Original creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris are returning to write and direct 'The Inbetweeners 3'. Claire Jones will produce alongside Banijay's Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Productions' Mark Lesbirel.
The original 'The Inbetweeners' ran for three series between 2008 and 2010 before moving to the big screen. The first film, 'The Inbetweeners Movie', was released in 2011, followed by 'The Inbetweeners 2' in 2014. Both films were UK box-office successes.
With production now under way, 'The Inbetweeners 3' is the first major continuation of the franchise since the second film more than 12 years ago. For fans of the original foursome, the reunion will give another chance to see Will, Simon, Jay and Neil together on screen, this time as adults.
